Well according to the tech's at the NOC... (it took several hours to track
it down) they did do a manual reset for me....
I did the man watchdog command and came up empty... Could you tell me more
about this program? Sounds like a good idea if it's available..
At any rate.. I'm pretty impressed with the hostpro system.. I'm in a
different division than the parent company... but they are good if they did
a manual reset for me within six minutes of the initial meltdown. They are
not small either so it's even more impressive...
I've actually had their tech people call me on several occasions when there
were problems and we were tracking them.. I wonder if the big companies out
there realize how important SERVICE is in this industry where we can
relocate and be totally seamlessly *somewhere* else in a matter of hours?
(Anyone ever deal with Verio?)... (or networknosolutions?)<OT> Funny story
about NS... last year I had a client desparate to change his nameserver
info on his registration.. No lie.. they made him fax a copy of his drivers
license, passport and utility bill and it STILL took over a month and
threat of a law suit, a total of about 6 hours on the phone (mostly on
hold) about 4 faxes and god knows what else to get it done... All mine are
now transferred and what took days, weeks or months, now takes seconds..
yehaw!</OT>
.... ahem.... Guess I need to fool with that ipchains script a bit more
<blush> hanging the machine, or... locking myself out (I don't think this
happened) is not a good thing!!
