Got a question for the xperts.... Fooling around with ipchains.. I managed
to hang the machine.. At first I thought I'd really stuck a fork in it and
locked myself out... frantic calls to the NOC where the box is located had
me in que for a manual reset.. but... exactly six minutes after the hang,
the machine rebooted itself.. or did it..
The question is... is there an auto re-set feature on the RaQ's? Meaning,
if the machine hangs, does it automatically reset after a set time delay...
(more likely 5 minutes and it took a minute for it to get to the logging
stage...)
logcheck showed a disconnect from the ssh session I was in and then a
restart at just seconds short of six minutes later.. if this is the case..
what a good feature!!
If not.. I'm one lucky SOB! Or.. the guys at the NOC are faster than hell!
(I don't think I even got the call into them until about 6 minutes later
and have not heard back to see if they actually did the reset or not)
TIA
Wayne
