Just to expound on Dan's answer:
Most newer browsers cache login information in memory, so you do not have to
re-type your login information if the browser is still active. Closing all
browser windows flushes this cache, and you will have to re-type your login
information. This is solely on your computer, so don't worry about others
having access. As they say, "it's a feature, not a bug."
