Can anyone help - My Raq 4i is down - following symptoms
1. At around 9:30 tonight GMT, I did the following
tar -cvf /home/sites/home/users/admin/Backup.tar /usr /bin /sbin /lib
I then Gzipped it and moved it to /home/sites/home/web/Backup.tar.gz
It was a - v e r y - big file
2. I Logged on to my other Raq4i that I manage and Wget it to that system
(a nice way of backing each others system)
3. I attempted to do a tar -cvf /home but it crashed saying no disk space
left !!. Deleted the - v e r y - big file
4.I received a nice email from the box telling me short of disk space
Total disk space: 726.04 MB
Free disk space: 0.00 MB
Percent Used: 100 %
5. That didnt seem much so I looked at the GUI and it was amber and flashing
saying disk problem. Looked at the stats and no problem .
6. Phoned colo - quote "yeah man - its a bug --" reboot it'll go away !!
7. reboot - suddenly its 10:00pm and either the system is sending errors
to me or 15 minute monitor is active because I got:
"The PostgreSQL server is down and cannot be restarted."
and
Cron reports an error
Cron <root@coferaq> /bin/sh /usr/local/etc/logcheck.sh
egrep: writing output: No space left on device
8. Rebooted again.
9. System unavailable. No Web - No email - No SSH - No nothing
Colo is on answerfone - it's Friday - It's raining and I haven't finished my
sermon for Easter Sunday.
10. I feel like asking Oral Roberts to come and lay hands on this RAq ...
"be healed"
Can someone advise what went wrong and how I should respond
Blessings
Revd leonard
