So, why are you here? To learn?

If you're not here to learn, then you may be wasting your time (g).

Even if that were true...responding to them with the curt "search the
archive", "read the KB", "buy a book", may allow you vent your justifiable
frustration, or insure that the lazy questioner is forced to work for
his/her answer, but it does NOTHING for any other newbee.

When Carrie was active on the list, she developed a style that was
helpful, polite and provided a means, if read, for folks to find things on
their own.

I guess we're just going to agree to disagree.  I find "have you thought"
of statements boorish and insulting...very much like "Have you stopped
beating your wife?"

A small rewording might have given the poster a hint on how to search the
archives.
