Also I find it far faster to put the url in of the .pkg file and let it install server to server, rather then downloading it, then uploading it.


I personally don't recommend this, particularly with a large install (one of the security updates a ways back was more than 10 megs, if I remember) .

I was installing a large update, the connection dropped for some reason, and the server went totally wacky after that... it took a bunch of effort, including hooking up a terminal to the box, to get it working again.

In my book, the risk of that happening to me again compared with the time savings makes it not a good investment... but to each his or her own, I guess.

Since I posted that query I have also learned to use the "wget" command.
If you use "wget" you also has the possibility to chack that you actually got
the whole file during transfer. Just check the file size.
