1. it's tar - not TAR

2. it's mt - not MT

Any form of *nix is case SENSITIVE - unless someone has symbolically linked TAR to tar and MT to mt - they are VERY different. If you think I'm nit-picking - you don't know unix, or you've never worked tech support for hundreds of unix boxes with administrators who only know the on/off button!

It is mount - and it has a LOT of parameters.

As with any unix command, telnet onto your box (if don't know what this means, put the machine in it's original box and fedex it back to the original supplier with a request for a refund) - then type man COMMANDNAME - where COMMANDNAME is the command you want instructions for.

I also suggest the following avenues for learning:

1. O'Reilly book on Unix Administration - look on Amazon or any other online book store
2. your local library
3. your local linux user group
4. your local tech college probably has training courses

Asking such basic questions is VERY likely to get you flamed in a group such as this. That level of question is well beyond basic, almost to the point of GLOBAL annoyance (IMHO).

Hey - it's my opinion and I'm entitled to it - if you don't like it - flame me OFFLINE or simply DELETE IT - don't clutter up the list!
