>Stoopid question numba' one... the .shtml files would be on which side of ...web/ ? (showing ignorance of term "root of web") I guess what I mean.. within web, where the site's index.shtml file and all subsequent files are located (I use SSI so main page is .shtml) or in the level where I'd be looking at the folders web/logs/users etc.... ?
yes, inside the web folder of your site is where they go, along with the other HTML and graphics files. .shtml is simply the extension for server side parsed HTML files.

lol - all site files are on the right of the slash after web - ie, inside the web folder.

You're welcome!

>Ouchy! Read that one... hoping you did not get the dreded buggers in there messing with something!! When I got hacked, nothing stopped working, with the exception of telnet, which seems to have had a fake version set in place that would not allow login..
hmmm... I'm currently backing up the 60+ user sites ready to move server - they're readying my replacement box and we're jumping ship - having already tried putting the RAQ3 hard disk from our server into another RAQ3 - same problem - ie, the problem is SOMEWHERE on either my OS or elsewhere in the hard-disk.
Now we're taking a clean RAQ3 - setting up the domains, then copying over the siteNN folders and passwd/shawdow etc.
I only hope this fixes things before our clients wake up in the morning!
>Only sign we had of hack till trying to telnet in was DNS server went down...
I found an instance of a formmail.pl exploit the very DAY before things started acting up. We have since banned formmail from our server - anyone caught running one will have it removed and their balls put into a vice!
