I usually don't reply to posts this old, but I've just been able to read
this list again after several weeks being extremely busy. I'm answering
because I had an opportunity to not only see the RaQ XTR and it's
specifications up-close, but also to speak with Cobalt/Sun's Gordon
Garb, at the Internet World show in Los Angeles these past few days.
The XTR is a completely different class of machine; it's got a much
faster processor, and the (future, not-yet-implemented) ability to
install a second. It can handle up to four disk drives, and you can
replace them from the front of the XTR without opening the box. The
software (gui) package is significantly updated as well, and can even be
completely disabled.
I'd check the features/price benefit carefully. Then make your own
decision.
Personally, I'm extremely interested in the XTR.
