I'm not clear on your terms; but I think what you are saying is correct.
The way I read the Faqs, for each domain including a website, you should
have
at a minimum
domain.com => ip
ip => domain.com (the ptr)
www.domain.com => ip
domain.com mail goes to mailserver by name (mx)
I run my mailservers ona different machine so I've set up a mail.domain.com
for each. If they are all running on the same machine, that probably isn't
necessary unless you just like the cleanliness of a mail server host being
named "mail"
