Ooops, I replied too quickly...
When we had this exact scenario occur, we had been hacked (last tuesday). I
hope you haven't been, but the script-kiddies managed to kill our Telnet and
FTP while installing their rootkit and TRIN00. We're installing SSH and
sftp in the VERY near future. It took us 72 hours to get our Raq3 healthy
again after wiping it clean and starting over, and we are MUCH more paranoid
than we were this time last week.

In W2000, bring up Start / Run and run 'telnet'.

Subject: [cobalt-users] Telnet client on W2000 does not connect to RAQ2
anymore!!
Well in trying to connect to cobalt1.cahost.net I found that the dos based
telnet client
that comes with Windows 2000 Professional does not work anymore with the
RAQ2s when you
install all the latest patches on the RAQ2!!!! I could not narrow it down
to what patch, but it seems to be a
patch in the last 4 months.
When using HYPERTERMINAL in W2000 Pro, it displays a login just fine
But when using TELNET from a command prompt (W2000 is dos based now) it does
not display
a login.
I know I know you are saying its W2000, but its not, W2000 telnet worked
fine until I loaded the last
4 months of patches on this box.
Anyone else experienced this? Is there a workaround/solution?
