I have Portsentry and Logcheck installed but I have seen Snort mentioned a
few times. I have downloaded it but am in the same situation I was with
Portsentry & Logcheck - I am not too sure of the installation instructions.
I used two very helpful step by step documents to install PortSentry and
Logcheck, but was wondering if there was anything similar for Snort -
searching the cobalt archives for "snort" only reveals 22 matches which
aren't particularly relevant. I'm aware of the linuxnewbie.org instructions
for Installing Snort 1.6.3 on SuSE 6.x-7.x
(http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/security/snort.html) but are these
instructions viable for a Raq running Linux? Also, is Snort a replacement
for Logcheck or Portsentry or can these tools be run in tandem without any
conflicts.
many thanks
Dan
