1. I used the list "name" of "pdxbiker" (it's for local Harley riders).
I'm unclear if subscribers should send E-mail to the list at
"pdxbiker@xxxxxxxxxx" or to "pdxbiker@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx". Which is it?
Both, but preferably pdxbiker@xxxxxxxxxx, it's shorter.
Why does it way "No info available for pdxbiker" at the bottom?
Where can I edit this file?
You have to create it.
To: majordomo
newinfo list password
This is information for the "list" list.
Blah, Blah ....
EOF
You can also edit the intro above:
To: majordomo
newintro list password
Welcome to the pdxbiker mailing list!
Blah, Blah ....
EOF
3. Why doesn't the list message, above, tell people what address to send
the messages? Where can I edit this information?
See above.
5. Why does the "X-Authentication-Warning" header use the "-f" flag?
6. Why do the bottom two header lines seem to suggest that I sent the
message to the wrong address (and that Majordomo needed to "Resend" the
message)?
You have to edit config to supply some values to replace the defaults.
reply_to = listname@xxxxxxxxxx
resend_host = domain.tld
Get the config:
To: majordomo@xxxxxxxxxx
config list password
Edit and send back:
To: majordomo@xxxxxxxxxx
newconfig list passowrd
.. here is my edited configuration
EOF
Make sure that your email program has either line wrap removed or set to
some reasonable value like 90-100 characters, else majordomo will bounce it
back because it will read comments as commands.
You can also remove the comments and send the command lines only, but keep
the original config for your ref. if you need to edit the config again, so
you know what you are doing.
