Follow-up on this:
Got it working!
I *did* copy to the group shadow the last time I tried this, but the reason
it didn't work is because the user did *not* show up in this line:
admin:x:27:admin
After I added the new admins to this line by hand, then all worked fine. So
I guess it was a RaQ4 thing after all (Diana states in her post that her RaQ
automagically added the new admins to this line).
This presents me with a new decision to make, though. The new admin is
allowed to go into *any* directory and read whatever he likes - he isn't
restricted to just entering the sites he's associated with (in the group
file). So, like shell access, this is something I've got to think about
seriously before granting it to a user who needs to do a lot of sites with
one login. He can only change files in the sites he's associated with, but
he can read everything.
But it's fine for *me*!
