Hi,
I've had the following in my maillogs today:
Feb 23 16:32:51 www sendmail[459]: rejecting connections on daemon MTA: load
average: 26
Feb 23 16:33:06 www sendmail[459]: rejecting connections on daemon MTA: load
average: 27
Feb 23 16:33:21 www sendmail[459]: rejecting connections on daemon MTA: load
average: 28
Feb 23 16:33:36 www sendmail[459]: rejecting connections on daemon MTA: load
average: 29
Feb 23 16:33:51 www sendmail[459]: rejecting connections on daemon MTA: load
average: 26
This happened another day too.
Why would sendmail be rejecting connections? There have only been a few
emails through the system and the active monitor gui says that the load on
the cpu and mail has been low.
I checked top for anything that suggests a problem:
6:19pm up 1 day, 56 min, 6 users, load average: 0.60, 0.77, 0.87
140 processes: 138 sleeping, 2 running, 0 zombie, 0 stopped
CPU states: 11.0% user, 8.9% system, 0.0% nice, 80.0% idle
Mem: 517368K av, 422796K used, 94572K free, 499944K shrd, 215716K
buff
Swap: 131448K av, 3332K used, 128116K free 42632K
cached
Does that look okay to everyone? Busy or normal? What about the load
average?
And pstree saying this:
init-+-crond
|-getty
|-httpd---5*[httpd]
|-httpd-+-77*[httpd]
| `-httpd---script.cgi
|-inetd
|-kflushd
|-klogd
|-kpiod
|-kswapd
|-kupdate
|-lcdsleep
|-mdrecoveryd
|-named
|-2*[portsentry]
|-postmaster
|-4*[raid1d]
|-safe_mysqld---mysqld---mysqld---mysqld
|-sendmail
|-sshd-+-4*[sshd---bash---su---sh]
| |-sshd---bash---su---sh---vi
| `-sshd---bash---pstree
`-syslogd
Do people think that looks okay? (apart from the few ssh's lying around)
I'm worried that this might be affecting form-email cgi scripts etc.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks,
Tony
