Hi,
We've just setup a Thawte 128-bit SSL certificate on our Cobalt RaQ4r (with
all the cobalt patches) and noticed that one of our office PC's can't access
our new https URL.
After some research, it seems that the problem lies with some 56-bit
versions of IE5 and SSL. This is mentioned on the Thawte site at:
http://www.thawte.com/certs/server/browsers.html
Okay, so now we've spent $300 dollars on this fancy 128-bit certificate and
it seems that a good proportion of our visitors are not going to be able to
buy online. How can this happen? Ignorance on our part I guess.
So, I go looking for a patch or fix or something - save telling all our
visitors to upgrade their browser - which isn't going to go down well.
The patch that I find?
http://www.modssl.org/docs/2.6/ssl_faq.html#io-ie
Which says (3rd paragraph) to put some directive somewhere. Has anyone else
had this problem, tried to patch their SSL or found another way around it?
Or can anyone explain that patch to me in english?
It seems that Mr Gates et al. are causing problems for me again.
Many thanks for any help,
Tony
