Re: [cobalt-users] RaQ3 - Trouble after installing BIND

I would check if you have a directory called /usr/bin/duawkz or sth like that. If you do, do not reboot the machine.....

Subject: [cobalt-users] RaQ3 - Trouble after installing BIND
Date: Fri, 09 Feb 2001 17:44:56 +0200

I installed the recent .pkg BIND update for on a RaQ3 (RaQ3-All-Security-4.0.1-9353.pkg). Now, I get 'Host name lookup failure' whenever I try to connect to anywhere else *from* the box. There are noe problems accessing it.

Logs are literally littered with messages like (basically one for every outbound message!):

Feb 9 15:01:48 ns1 sendmail[5805]: PAA05805: ruleset=check_mail, arg1=<icnlist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>, relay=[198.252.45.164], reject=451
<icnlist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>... Sender domain must resolve
Feb 9 15:01:49 ns1 sendmail[5806]: PAA05806: ruleset=check_mail, arg1=<icnlist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>, relay=[198.252.45.164], reject=451
<icnlist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>... Sender domain must resolve

BIND is all a big mystery to me. Can anyone please advice on what might have happened here, and how to fix it?

named has been restarted and is running. Exceuting ./nds status yields:

named 8.2.3-REL Tue Jan 30 16:56:25 PST 2001 admin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx:/home/redhat/BUILD/bind-8.2.3/src/bin/named
config (/etc/named.conf) last loaded at age: Wed Feb 7 11:20:48 2001
number of zones allocated: 128
debug level: 0
xfers running: 0
xfers deferred: 0
soa queries in progress: 0
query logging is OFF
server is up and running

Sincerely,
Per M
