$500 ? You ever bought rackmount cabinets before ?

The retail price of a 1-2 U rackmount cabinet is almost $300, including PSU, and a larger 4U cabinet easily does away with $500 or more. Add a server mobo, a processor or two, a disk or two, some memory, and you're talking way more than $500 in component costs, and that's before you start counting the time taken to assemble and configure the machine and installation time for the software. Also, you pay for the knowledge of the guys that has to make the first setup.

From the specs, the rm box included two processors and a level 1 raid. Of course, it might be duron processors and a software raid, but you still have to have two processors and two disks... Every drop adds up (said the mouse as it p*ssed in the ocean:^)
