[cobalt-users] Secure image and file downloads from a cobalt RAQ 4

I have looked over the archives, but cannot find the advice I need. However
please excuse me if this has already been answered.

We have an image database on a RAQ4, running WebCatalog. we would like to
allow the users a secure and timed limited ability to download images from
the site. The images are stored on a Network storage device, the Quantum
snap. 
My question is the best way to make sure the user can only download once and
how this is done under linux ?
Anyone who can at least point me in the right direction would be a great
help. The snap storage allows windows NT domain control if this is any use,
would we need to configure Samba or similar ?
