Hehe, well I have been on Linux desktops for years. Can't live without it.

You should probably take a look at Mozilla, Konqueror and Opera. I vote for
Konqueror :-)

You don't think 299$ would be affordable for a work tool?

I have run Windows ME without problems -- but I'm not using the Express
version. I'm confident, that the Express version will run ME. However it
cannot run NT or 2000.

It's hard to say, whether or not you will get "good performance". It all
depends on what types of program  you want to run, and how often.

With the prices on RAM these days, I will not suggest using anything less
than 256 mb. Currently I use a dual 300 mhz machine with 196 mb ram to run
my Linux desktop. Haven't had the time to upgrade the RAM yet :-)
