Hi, I had the same problem myself, and I'm betting the
answer is not what you expected to hear.
In my case, the trouble turned out to be related to
restrictions from the NTP servers themselves... you have to
be on the east coast... you have to have permission from the
sysop... you have to be a high level network... You'll have
to check the "Access Policy" for the server to find one that
will work for you, for instance, the USNO policy
specifically states:
"the following stratum 1 NTP servers are open to stratum 2
servers within the same time zone and to others by
arrangement. "
The problem stopped when I found a relatively unrestricted
NTP server. I'm in Arizona, US and now use the server at
204.123.2.72 and it works fine. As I recall the only
restriction on this server is that you must be in a
south-western United States geographical location.
You might try looking at the NIST servers
(http://www.bldrdoc.gov/timefreq/service/time-servers.html),
they MIGHT have an open access one in your area.
I know the "Internal Server Error" message makes this seem
like an unlikely answer, however, I think that finding an
open access server in your time zone and geographical
location will work for you, too.
