Hope its not a silly question - but - if Cobalt use Mailman themselves why
do they ship the RAQ's with Majordomo?
It's a GOOD question. I think it's because...
Majordomo is written in PERL which is readily available and easy to
install on just about any computer...like the Raq (where it already
is bundled). LOL
Mailman is "written in" Python which is NOT readily available and
would represent an additional installation (and ONLY for the mail
list since PERL can do almost everything PYTHON can).
Well then, you may ask, why didn't they do THIS list in Majordomo?
:-) Maybe because they wanted a web page archive for it and the web
archive program for Majordomo, MHonark, may not install very well
with the Raq's version of Majordomo.
So, finally, WHY is there an "unorthodox" (since Gerald gets a kick
out of that term) version of Majordomo on this box? So folks can
build lists with the GUI.
I think that's true but I could be wrong since only the people who
made this decision can answer positively.
