I'm not trying to be picky, but it's when you release the Windows key
that the Start menu pops up. My understanding is that the key returns
something else when you release it than it does when you press it. If
you press the windows key, and then while holding it down, press other
keys, other things happen. Try (using W- for the windows key) W-d, W-e,
W-f, for example. There may be others.

I thought it was something like that <smile>.
I've got a list somewhere of the Alt-key combinations to get various
characters, but in general I don't worry about it. I think (not sure)
that you can set a keyboard layout in both Windows and Linux, that gives
you a euro, as well as language-dependent accents, letters, etc.
