You are correct. They are IDE and not hot swappable. The RAID is
implemented in software, and each IDE drive has it's own independent
master channel for high performance.
You will notice if you open up a RaQ XTR that the drives are connected
to a daughter board that contains the IDE controllers, which connects to
the main logic board.
