[cobalt-users] RE: RACKSHACK.NET [Colin's closing remarks]

<huge snip>
Jay, the quality of your writing indicates that you are not
an idiot. However, I must admit that I find the quality of
your reasoning not quite up to the same standard. The issue
is that this company is being (according to the web pages now
seen by several members of this community) dishonest in its
sales tactics. As they are likely suppliers to many of us,
Carrie issued a warning. The company chose to try to defend
itself and did a poor job, then you rather pedantically chimed
in with an ill-informed judgment of Carrie. I do hope the
storyline is now clear enough.

Let me say this loudly, and unequivocally;

It is an *honor* and a *privilege* to be a subscriber to a list who's
members post thoughtful, honest, insightful pieces of writing such as
this (as a typical example)

That said, I hope this group of people that I hold in such genuinely
high
esteem will forgive my descent into flames yesterday. Life is full of
lessons,
this is one such blindingly clear example of a "life lesson"
I was as angry about the insults and threats perpetrated against Carrie
as many others,
but chose the "low ground" of snarling, vituperative, newsgroup
rhetoric.

This is *not* characteristic of me, and I apologize to my fellow list
members for selecting
the "lowest common denominator" of response. ("Reaction" would perhaps
be a more truthful
as well as accurate characterization) I am usually more contemplative
and thoughtful, typically
seeking an analytical response, or mitigating sharp rhetoric from others
with humor where possible.
In this instance I failed to be either thoughtful, funny, or temperate
in my post.

So, please accept my sincere apology for lowering the tone and standard
of an otherwise wonderful community,

Regards,
-Colin
