My host name is the name of the machine.  That's what the host-name
should be, on the main site of the machine.  At least IMNSHO.

However, with this setting the RaQ will use this as the first (primary)
NS record for each site, to make things easier for DNS using the Cobalt
gui, you should probably use nsor ns1, and register ns.maindomain.com or
ns1.maindomain.com, as your first nameserver.

I presume so; I can't be sure since I don't use the RaQ gui for
maintaining DNS.
