[cobalt-users] [RAQ4r] invalid character in username?

One of my site-admins was setting up a new user with a last name that
included an apostrophe. The new account was accepted, but does not appear
in the GUI for the site. Re-entering the same name without the apostrophe
responds 'user name already exists'. This is a virtual site, with a unique
IP address in anticipation of future SSL requirements.
Since this user was entered, none of the site admin's have access. I have
deleted and re-entered the virtual site, and re-booted the server, all to no
avail.
We assume that the problem was the apostrophe?
How can I delete this user-name to allow re-entry without the apostrophe?
I am a GUI user not a Linux expert - so I need kind & simple instructions
that assume I know nothing~!
Thanks
Drew
