Slightly OT, but you are both correct!!

Occams principle was that you should "never unnecessarily multiply
entities".

This is interprated in a simple form as "when the relative complexity of a
variety of solutions are taken into account, the simplest solution tends to
be the correct one"

or "All other things being equal, the simplest explanation tends to be
true."!
