Re: [cobalt-users] RE: RAQ3: SSL CSR Generation

Brian,

Thanks for that. This was nearly what I did. Now the problem I have is that the certificate seems to be owned by "admin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx". Actually this is what Netscape says when I look at it. However this email address does not exist, the RAQ3 GUi must enter it somewhere.

My question is what can I do to enter another address instead of this one.

PS: Why do you advise to delete the certificate from the GUI. Is it not safe?

Thanks for your time

Gilles

First, make sure you have enabled SSL on the site you are creating a csr for
in Site Settings.

Second, goto SSL Settings screen. Fill out all the required info. NOTE:
when entering the state, spell out the state name (no abbreviations). I
learned this the hard way when trying to get my certificate signed by
VeriSign.

Third, from the pull down menu, select Generate Self-signed Certificate.
Click Save Changes.

Finally, when the resulting screen appears, you will see all the "code" that
appears with a header that reads: ---BEGIN CERTIFICATE REQUEST---

Copy all of that text and paste it into a UNFORMATTED text file. I used
Microsoft word and saved the file as text-only. Then re-open the text file
and copy the text. This can then be pasted into the csr request area on the
VeriSign site for processing.

PLEASE NOTE: It is a good idea to immediately delete the certificate from
the SSL Settings GUI after you copy it. Just so you don't forget.

Good luck,

Brian J. Coughter
