thanks to all that have replied to the earlier posts...

let be spell out exactly what it is i am trying to do.

simply put we have a password protected dir and we need to return a custom
page for that dir only when log on access is denied.

i have been struggling with this for five weeks...

will somebody please help me?

this is a copy of my current htaccess file

please note the error message / custom pages at listed were a suggestion
from another in this group and are for testing purposes only.

my only interest is to return a custom unauthorized access page!

here is my latest non functioning htaccess file

will some body please tell me how to return a custom err page in a specific
dir?

many thanks
