Hi everyone,
I'm new to the list, although I've been reading it for
awhile since we got our Raq4i's.
My question is, I can't seem to figure out why the Mysql
server is dead. What happened is I installed the server .pkg
and that seemed to go smoothly. I then installed PHPMyAdmin
2.10 and was able to configure it for advanced mode, after
tweaking the php.ini file. I was able to connect to the
MySQL just fine, and add users. this is where the situation
went sour. I noticed after adding the last user, that MySQL
seemed to hang up. I waited for 4 hours for the server to
get done and still it was decidedly hung up. I then held my
breath and rebooted the raq. the raq came back fine, however
I was no longer able to connect to MySQL. The error message
I got kept referring to mysql.sock and I checked, per the
error message, for the existance of the file (It existed). I
then tried to manually start mysqld and have had no luck
since, even after rebooting the raq.
I am familiar with Unix and the Linux versions, and am
somewhat capable of dealing with a multi-user Mysql server
enviornment, I did notice that the raq has alot of
differences in the file system and dependencies and was
hoping one of you gentlemen or ladies could throw some ideas
at me.
For reference, the URL that can be tested is
http://198.199.199.70/databaseadmin/databaseadmin/index.php
with a username of testing and a password of testing. This
is the user that was working to get access to the database
tables.
My goal here was to provide access to the database like
mysql1.needa.com for our users to be able to configure the
database via the web as opposed to coding if they choose to
do so. Any help is appreciated....and thanks to all that
posted on other subjects, very helpful material!
