Until you really understand what it is you are dealing with, I think it
would be prudent to stop accusing list members of sending these things out
maliciously. If you received a virus from a list member, how about just
letting them know that you got it from them (off list) so they can take
whatever action they need to to clean their computer(s).
The problem, as I see it, has NOT been people inadvertently sending
virus emails to other list members. The email IS coming from
hahaha@xxxxxxxxxxxx
How do we know this??? Because the email is going out on different
days and the name of the attachment is being changed each day. The
email content is also different. Well, the bottom line is that this
is a person directly sending this to list members. Members may be
passing it along -- but I deeply deeply doubt that that's the core
problem.
In fact, I believe the list WAS targeted (I think that's pretty clear
by now) and that it's some creep using the archives -- not a regular
poster.
However, we don't know if this was the only list targeted.
As I said, we need to get in touch with clients and others and tell
them about this and include the information about the address book.
This IS coming from this list, to some extent, and I think the word
probably now needs to be spread. What a wait of time and energy!!!
