Someone *HAS* been targeting individual subscribers of mailing lists with
this virus.
On another list that I'm subscribed to, every person who ever made a posting
to the list personally received a copy of the mentioned virus. The sender
even went as far as to munge the headers and make it look like the email
originated from the mailing list.
My assumption would be that this individual/group harvested the addresses
via the public archives of the list. Not very complicated, and a great way
to distribute a virus to many people at once.
