Subject: [cobalt-users] rewriteengine on vs off
I have a site that I have turned rewriteengine off. This is so that when
multiple domains are directed to it the name isn't rewritten to the site
name
(it is a site I use for url redirection and so I need to know the original
url
not the one that it has been "rewritten" to).
The problem with this approach, it turns out, is that I can now no longer
use an
internal redirect on an ErrorDocument directive - has to be external (which
means that a lot of environment variables that I want are not available to
the
errordocument handler).
Does anyone know of a way to ensure that the url is not changed to the site
name
url without turning rewriteengine off - can i modify the rewrite rules ?
cheers
Jim Carey

Does anyone know if, given that Cobalt is now part of Sun and that the
RaQ3/4 are Intel-based, those particular boxes will run Solaris? If they
won't today, has anyone heard of plans to do that? Also, I can't seem to
get a definitive answer on whether or not you can install and run Oracle 8i
for Linux on these boxes. Has anyone gotten that to work? Thanks in

Trust me on this one - almost nothing comes close to prostate cancer on any
list. I have gotten pretty adept at tar balls and rpms on the qube2. Putting
together a spec file is still kinda like a tooth extraction - feels good once
it is done, but a pain during the process. One source I have found very useful

Hi,
I'm having problems connecting to two raq3, no problem connecting to our
raq2's....
When connecting everything goes well untill :
Socket connected. Waiting for welcome message...
Than it takes about 1 minute before I get ...
220 ProFTPD 1.2.0pre9 Server (ProFTPD)
Than everything goes well untill the LIST COMMAND..... Which again takes
more than a minute......
Same everytime after an upload, or when changing directories.... takes for
ages to get the list (even when there is only 1file....).
Anybody got any ideas?

Alfredo,
Before I go any further, let me explain.
I completely and totally understand what you were telling me to do, where I
create a site administrator for each site and take 'Admin' out of that
site's Group.
What I am testing out now, though, is the multi-admin setup. Where one admin
can administrate multiple domains through FTP. The reason I want to try this
out is because I have a few clients who have more than one domain on my
machine. Currently I have 3 clients who have 2 domains each, one client who
has 4 domains, and I've got one coming on board next week who will have 7
domains! So I wanted to try the method described in Diana's post, to see if
I could allow those clients to update all of their domains with just one
login.
There are two different things that came out of this thread:
1. Taking 'Admin' out of the Group for each site in order to keep 'Admin'
from hitting the 32-site level. Your method solved that quite easily.
2. Making 'Admin1', 'Admin2', 'Admin3', etc.; each who could administrate a
number of sites with just one FTP login. That was Diana's post, and *that*
is what I'm testing out here.
So don't worry, I'm not messing up your directions, and I don't
misunderstand them. I will be taking Admin out of the sites that aren't
personally mine so that 'he' won't hit the 32-site limit. However, I want to
figure Diana's method out so that I can allow my clients with more than one
site to administrate them all with just one FTP login.
Okay? :)
Now, with the 'main site' thing discussed above; www.allaboutchoice.com is
the name of my server and it's also the home site (home/sites/home/web) on
the machine. I properly added a site administrator through the GUI for
allaboutchoice.com and am using that site administrator login (admin2) to
test out this multi-domain administration thing.
I put 'admin2' (no quotes) into other site Groups to see if I could login
through FTP and move around through all of the different sites that 'admin2'
belonged to, as per Diana's instructions.
It's not working as easily as it does for her. I have to think that it's a
RaQ4 thing I need to get past. Actually, I'm thinking of making that my list
sig line. <grin>

One of our coustomers had the same problem some month ago.
We tried two days to fix it, but it wasn't work.
After that, i contacted the Cobalt support. They worked one or two days on
the server, but it wasn't work ....
Finaly we replaced the RaQ with a newone (==> RMA) and the server was
working fine with the exactly same configuration as before.
Maybe someone other has a fix for this problem ??
(PS: Im not sure, but i think it was a hardware-defect)

Reply-To: cobalt-users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
What is this file : /var/cobalt/status ?
( Is it has become over 300 Mo big after year of year of operation )
Wouldn't it be the main cause of a persistent ' The filesystem is getting full' warning (/dev/hda3
is at 80% ) ?
Should I, and can I safely remove it ?
( does it make sens to archive it ? - is it worth saving 300 Mo ? Is there valuable data inside ? )
Thank for help cleaning my logs without a disaster.

Subject: [cobalt-users] Matt's FormMail.pl suddenly not working...
Reply-To: cobalt-users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hello all,
I posted this message last night and it still is not on the list, so forgive
me if this ends up being a duplicate.
I have been running Matt's FormMail script on my RAQ3 without trouble for
some time. Suddenly I am receiving the following error when trying to run
it:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable
to complete your request.
It is bizarre. I have checked and re-checked everything. I have it chown'd
by admin and chmod 755. The path's have not changed to perl or sendmail.
The only thing I can think of is that I did make some changes to my
/etc/group and /etc/group- files. I went over the ~26 user limit so I
needed to add admin accounts. I added admin1 for sites 1-27 and admin2 for
sites 27 and up. Could this have something to do with my problems?
This has been extremely frustrating. It seems that it is reading the script
because when I add required fields to the form it gives me errors if I leave
a field blank. So it is reading the script and executing a portion of it.
It just seems to be getting hung up on sending the mail.
Any Help would be VERY appreciated. I have a couple of customers that are
not exactly happy...
TIA
Scott

Subject: [cobalt-users] Cobalt Raq 2/3 Updates
Reply-To: cobalt-users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hi,
The company that I work for has two cobalt Raq servers. A Raq 2 (Mail
Server) and a Raq 3 (Web Server). I noticed on the cobalt site that updates
are available for these, so far the servers were only updated a few months
ago (well before I started anyway). Are there any updates that people on the
list would recomend installing or any updates that can cause problems (worth
avoiding)? I noticed looking through the back log of mails that we have that
there are some issues with Front Page (we only use this on one site), is
this a major issue when installing the updates?
Also I was looking into installing the Webilazer software from the cobalt
PKG site. How do people rate this? Is it worth installing or should I avoid
at all costs? If I install this will I need to make changes to all of our
sites to allow them to access it (We have about 150+ sites, so editing them
isn't really an option)?
Sorry about the long list of questions.
Thanks
Thomas

Still no luck on getting a Thawt certificate to load/activate
properly?????
Again, we've added a Thawt Certificate to a virtual on our RAQ3,
following the printed directions in the Cobalt manual. However,
it appears that the server is still using the old, self signed
certificate. Even after a restart and save changes.
This is silly......

You have checked and re-checked everything... but have you had a look at
/var/log/httpd/error?
The giveaway lines will be in there.

Webalizer is good stuff. Just runs a script via cron on ALL sites hosted. No
need to edit any config files apart from crontab. No need to set it up
individually on each site either.

Thanks for the tip...here is what I believe the error is:
"[Wed Dec 13 01:01:57 2000] [error] [client 209.206.248.198] malformed
header from script. Bad header=<input type=hidden name="recip:
/usr/cgiwrap/cgiwrap"
Does this mean anything to you? Not sure what it is telling me...
TIA

Subject: [cobalt-users] Where Can I find patches?
Reply-To: cobalt-users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hello, I am a new user of cobalt Raq3 servers and I have a customer that is
using a FTP program or Adobe Golive for Mac to edit his site. He says that
when he tried to rewrite a page says "Access denied" then he has to delete
the page and update it again, this is a tidius process.
I call technical support and they say that maybe I am missing some patches.
My question is where Can I find those patches?, I was looking through the
site but all I find are updates.
I will apreciate some help.
Thank you

Malformed header == malformed header, oddly enough. The script is not
outputting
Content-type: text/html
as the start of the output. As it's perl, you can run it from the
command line using something like:
perl /path/to/scriptname
and check the output there to see what happens.
