I would suggest you just give up. Seems too many of the hosting and
dedicated companies out there are fair weather companies. They are all
nice, pleasant, and helpful until they get the sale, then when the problems
occur you wait 3 days to get a response.
And it's not that we do not understand problems and networks go down, it is
simply that they do not take 5 minutes to send a very brief email that says
this is what has occurred, this is what we are doing, this is when we expect
it to be resolved. If we ever get a response it is always general, there is
such and such a problem, thank you.
We are leasing dedicated servers, at this level we really need to expect an
answer which is better than there is a problem. We need to know what it is.
It is just common courtesy as we also have customers who demand answers from
us!
I did not go through catalog.com but had problems with www.cobaltracks.com.
My suggestion is simply to buy the server and lease the internet connection!
At least cut one more step out of the issue and have more control. That is
what I ended up doing. I simply couldn't afford taking chances with my
business.
If you would like to go that route I have a nice network you can install
your server on, but there are also a lot of great colo's which you can use
and make a greater profit in the long run. Also, look for the no thrills
type, that allows 24/7 access, that way you do not have to wait 3 to 5 hours
for someone to reboot the server! So also find one close by!! So you can
assume more of your own tech support!
The more you control, the less idiots you need to deal with!
Thank you,
Michael T. Ross
