[cobalt-users] [Qube2] Perl 5.6 on mips

I am thinking about installing or upgrading my Perl to a later version (the
author of the latest CPAN update told me he did not know any versions as old
as mine were still around :) so ....).

I scanned the archives and picked up just a little bit of discussion, but am
not clear if the install went as desired.

If you have upgraded or installed a latter version of Perl on a MIPS machine
(such as the Qube2):

Where did you get the binary - source - or whatever. I looked at ftp.perl.org,
but am not sure which one I should try?

Some comments in the archive suggest that upgrading to a newer version of Perl
will zap some of the Cobalt admin scripts. Is this true? If yes, then does
installing the newer version in a different location work? Please give me a
bit of detailed help on this one.

What configuration tricks or warnings do you have for someone doing this?

Am I out of my mind (yes I know ...) for even thinking about doing an upgrade?

Thanks, Mike.
