You don't want the /proc directory; it's really a look at the hardware.

That just means it's putting your root paths into a subdirectory...i.e.:
If you copy /root into /home/sites/site3/backup/ you need to eliminate
the leading "/"; if you don't you'll copy it right back on itself.
