When I installed 1.2-4.... in my list of installed items, my
"POP-Authenticated SMTP Relaying Release 1.2-4" is a hyper link to:
http://www.cynic.net/~cjs/computer/sendmail/poprelay.html
That's what it does, yes. It's the site of the people who wrote the program.
Does this mean it was not installed correctly.. or does that mean the
documentation was moved. How do I know if it works or not?
If it's there, it's probably working, Clint. But you can test it. Use
an smtp from one of your domains and try to send mail without
authenticating. It should stop you. The only problem is if you're
using a provider to get on line that doesn't allow smtp from anyone
but themselves -- like most of the big ones now. Then, you won't be
able to use your smtp for anything at all -- you have to use theirs.
And then, THEY will stop you before your send email. LOL
Nothing anyone can do about that -- it's the policy many providers
are following now.
For a fuller explanation, I'd suggest the list archives because
there's been a huge amount of material on this program over the last
few months.
