you could try to disable and re-enable it using the gui, maybe it
overwrites the entry in inetd.conf. i don`t know if telnet is run as a
standalone daemon or if it is started by inetd.conf, though...
alternatives : serial cable, or crack the box... you might consider to
install ssh instead of telnet when done.
