RE: [cobalt-users] RAQ4 - Frontpage and FTP permissions - Cobalt, read this

Yes I agree this is a bug that need to be fixed since it is RAQ 4 specific.

Therein lies the bug? At least I think. On a RaQ4, when you upload with
FP, the files are chowned as 'nobody' instead of the FTP username as was the
case on previous RaQ models. Thus, when you go in with FTP to attempt to
change permissions on a file that was uploaded with FP, guess what? You
don't have permission. Uploading with FP seems to affect other files to,
even when not uploaded with FP.

What I do to get around this bug is to telnet in as root. Go to the
directory in question and then change the ownership back to the FTP
username;

[root]# chown ftpuser *

However, this all changes again if you upload with FP.

Of course, you should not upload cgi scripts with FP. However, FP seems to
still affect the ownership of cgi scripts for some reason, even when
uploaded with FTP.  Strange.

I wonder when Cobalt will acknowledge this bug and correct it. It is very
frustrating and time consuming. This bug seems to be RaQ4 specific. This
is not a problem on my RaQ3.
