I have tried numerous times to add a .htaccess file to a browser accessible
directory within a virtual-site. I followed the instructions provided on
the Cobalt Knowledgebase. I also tried the instructions provided on the Red
Hat site. The file was there but when I went to the directory in a browser,
I did not get prompted to enter a username and password. I did however,
successfully create a userAuth file with a list of usernames and passwords
and I did reference it in the .htaccess file.
Here's what I ultimately want to do...
Create a "members-only" sub-directory within a virtual-site. When users
click a link on the home page, the are prompted to enter their username and
password. Upon clicking OK, they are allowed access to the directory and
all sub-directories.
Also, is it possible to add a username, password & login button to the
homepage where they enter that info instead of being prompted.
Please help me, I'm drowning.
Thank you,
Brian Coughter
