Anyway I think the better solution would be to stop that traffic, so you can easily manage the raq and move to a bigger one.
Thanks for all the help that you people have sent me on the problem at hand. As of today we are moving our sites to a RaQ4i with 256MB of RAM to start with. Hopefully that will help. Our ISP is also throwing in 50GB of traffic per month.
Oh, the problem was basically what Graham F. had spoke of. The RaQ was swapping out to memory. we got more and more hits and finally the machine just had no memory left to run the other services. Once our ISP restarted the RaQ3 there were no problems for awhile.
The third or so time that we had to have our ISP restart the RaQ was due to a DOS attack. we are investigating the situation, We have been told to inform the RCMP (being in Canada) but were also told that they would not do anything for a few reasons:
1 - Attack originated outside of Canada. 2 - We are too small. 3 - Attack seems to be a one time thing. I bet if we were Microsoft or IBM they would do something!I have informed the ISP of the originating IP address but of course have heard nothing back.
Is there a Website or organization that we can give the IP address to that will either do something or at least keep track of the hacking origins for future possible use or exposition. If not then perhaps we should start one ourselves. Open to the public of course.
Enough ranting. Thanks for all the help. All future Q's will be about the RaQ4 I hope. James Riordon.
