dear all,
short version: i am having a problem where cr/lf (carriage returns
and/or line feeds) are being automatically added to long lines in the
body of an email. i would like to stop this from happening but i am not
sure how or even if it is possible (e.g., could i change some config
setting in qpopper?). i would be incredibly thankful for any advice you
may be able to offer.
long version: we have a Qube2 which functions as our email server and
dsl gateway. our website is hosted elsewhere (i.e., off site) on a
windows nt server. on our website we have an order form that is
processed via asp (active server pages). when an order is submitted
from the website, the asp code processes the order and sends us an email
containing the form data. when we receive this emailed data any lines
in the body of the message that are longer than x characters have been
wrapped by inserting a cr/lf (resulting in lines that range from ~68 -
74 characters). these cr/lf interfere with the way we processing of the
emailed form data, and i need to make them go away. now as i recall the
unix (or is that command shell?) default line width is something like 72
characters, so i am assuming that one of the programs that processes the
emailed data is wrapping the long lines automatically.
i have checked our asp code, and it is not the source of the inserted
cr/lf characters. i have also intercepted the email before it is
downloaded by our email client by grabbing the mail spool file from the
qube and opening it in a text editor. because the cr/lf's are already
present in the spool file, i know that they are not being added by our
email clients. i also know that if the email is received elsewhere
(i.e., on an NT server, so it never passes through our qube), then the
cr/lf's are not present. thus it seems to me that the qube is wrapping
these lines. is qpopper adding them? or is there some other culprit?
in any case, how can i stop these cr/lf's from being inserted? is there
a setting in some qpopper config file? any ideas?
i do appreciate any help you are able to provide me.
mikey.
p.s., list archives seem to be down at the moment.
