This means that your hda1 / and hda3 /var primary partitions with folders
such as /tmp, logs, and programs is at least 6.5 gigs in size. What programs
did you use to make the hda1 or hda3 primary partitions so big; Power
Quest's Drive Image or Drive Copy?
Looks like all your space has been given to the wrong partitions. That
is if you are web-hosting and not running a database or other application
intensive machine, you should have most of the 6 gigs dedicated to hda4
or the /home partition for your users.
Solution:
Find large files that are taking up space, such as looking in the /tmp
directory or /var/log and deleting files such as a bloated "messages"
file in /var/log. But these files are probably small in size, though
you need to find out if it is the / partition, /var partition, or both
that are maxed out.
To increase the size of your partitions, you might be able to use Power
Quest's Partition Magic 5.0, though I have not been able to increase
the size of a partition if there is less than 100 megs free, so check
the size of your paritions by doing a command : df -h
and see if you have at least 100M Available in hda1 or hda3.
You then might be able to increase the size of each one; at least that's
according to Power Quest's tech support, and thus free up some space
and get it down less thatn 80% capacity.
