Every day or two we cannot access email on our Qube2. We receive the
following error from our email client (Eudora):
ERR [SYS/TEMP] maillock 4:'/var/spool/mail/username'
Error reading from network, connection closed by foreign host.
In the /var/spool/mail directory there are files called username.lock in
addition to the normal username files. I can delete the .lock files but
they reappear when we try to check for mail again. Also, the
/var/spool/mqueue directory starts filling up with messages that can't be
delivered to the users with .lock files. When I check the maillog, I see
messages similar to the following:
Oct 26 15:32:16 g2server in.qpopper[3982]: (v?) Unable to get canonical
name of client 192.168.1.16: Unknown host (1)
Oct 26 15:32:16 g2server in.qpopper[3982]: dave at 192.168.1.16
(192.168.1.16): -ERR [SYS/TEMP] maillock error 4: '/var/spool/mail/dave'
The only thing that seems to correct this problem is rebooting the Qube2.
