The whole thread was based on getting a certificate for the server and
letting the virtual sites use it as well.

Yeppers, I'm aware of that.
I think though, that the solution that was suggested (making a folder for
each user on my site and letting them access the SSL from there) wouldn't
violate that contract. It would still be my site using the certificate, it
wouldn't be expanding over to other domain names. Thinking about this, I
think it might be a good idea to have the virtual sites have some type of
disclaimer by their links or on the page with the link to the secure folder
saying "secure page is on another site" or something like that.
I've looked into the wildcard certs and until I find a money tree, it's not
happening. :)

Like I said, it's just easier to give them their own dediP.
>Do you admit that you were twisting meanings; that sharing a site isn't
>at all the same thing as sharing an IP# between sites?
No, I wasn't twisting meanings. I already explained what I meant. I didn't
see it as sharing a site, I saw it as sharing a resource.
>And, oh, if you think that was a flame, then forget about writing any
>RFCs; if you try to pass on sharing a site as sharing an IP#, the

Ah ah ah... I said flaming tone, not flame. Now who's twisting meanings? ;)
I realize you weren't flaming me... yet. The tone was harsh, though.
>No, I'm not trying to flame you, or to put you down. Even my last

I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the apology Jeff.
Just let me know where you're coming from and I'll do the same, and we'll be
okay.
If you EVER see me post something that's wrong, please hop in and correct
me. Hopefully you won't have to do this too often. But can you be gentle
when you do? <grin>
I'm learning, I swear.

Good on talking to CR! If you would, I'd love a copy of the responses you
get from the con-CR people. I'd like to know what to watch out for, in case
the same happens to me. Doesn't hurt to be prepared.
"Clarify how you mean things - which you still haven't done:" what exactly
would you still like me to clarify? I'd be happy to.
And I'm putting a post-it on my monitor reminding me that I'm talking to a
mostly-Unix list so I need to be as exact as possible. The flavor of the
list tends to mirror the thinking of those reading it. I need to proofread
my own stuff and parse my own words so there can't be any double entendre.
>Kind of like the way Al Gore exaggerates, I guess <smile>.
OH. Now *that* hurt. Where's my nerf bat?
I feel a sudden need to go scrub myself with a brillo pad. ;)
(comparing me to Al Gore... oh the shame!!!)
