Question
I rebooted my RaQ3 and now the server hangs on Booting... on the LCD panel.
What should I do?

Response
Please note that the following steps require that you telnet in as root to
modify a file or issue commands and should only be done by an experienced
Linux user. If you are not an experienced Linux user you may call our
Technical Support Department and we will have one of our technicians walk
you through this procedure.

If this occurs you need to do the following.

Take a Null modem cable and connect to the Raq3 via a laptop with the
cable. Make sure the settings are 115200,8,N,1 Hardware flow control.

Once connected to the RaQ3 you will be prompted for the admin/root
password. Enter the password and you will be put at the root prompt. Issue
the following commands.

umount /dev/hda1

When unmounted type 'fsck /dev/hda1'. This will do a fsck on the file
system. It may come back with many inode errors and ask you if you want
to fix them. Answer yes to all questions in this.

umount /dev/hda3

When unmounted type 'fsck /dev/hda3'. This will do a fsck on the file
system. It may come back with many inode errors and ask you if you want
to fix them. Answer yes to all questions in this.

umount /dev/hda4

When unmounted type 'fsck /dev/hda4'. This will do a fsck on the file
system. It may come back with many inode errors and ask you if you want
to fix them. Answer yes to all questions in this.

Note:If during the above process you see any message stating unrecoverable
error then you will need to contact Cobalt Support at 800.266.4378.

When these are done issue the 'shutdown -r now' command to reboot your
machine. The machine will then reboot normally.
