Or primary network services are supplied via Win2000/NT boxes. All DHCP and
DNS services are via these systems. These boxes were in place before the
Qube was purchased. The Qube has a reserved IP for each card.

This is correct. The Qube responds slowly for POP3/SMTP via the LAN, and FTP
returns Blocking call cancelled errors. The problem still exists when we
supply a dedicated/isolated connection to the Qube with a crossover,
effectively eliminating the network. Access from the outside via dial-up
behaves normally. This has been verified on several client workstations on
Mac and PC platforms using outlook/netscape mail clients, and wsftp.

The following services are running on the Qube2: E-mail Services, FTP, Web
and Discussion groups by default
The Qube is connected to the outside world via DSL router and to the lan via
10/100 switch. The Qube is not used as our internet gateway, the router is.
This network is TCP/IP and appletalk support for the Macs. Pings respond
normally.
This is the second time this issue has occured after a DHCP server lock-up.
The issue was resolved the first time with a system rebuild on the Qube. I
would prefer a better work-around if possible.
I have spent many hours sifting through the archives and found no actual
solution to our problem.
