I am posting this message again. I am a newbie to this forum, and have not
recieved conformation of the posting:
After our local DHCP server crashes, The Qube's POP3 service runs very
slowly locally, and the we are unable to ftp in (we get blocking call
cancelled errors). To isolate the network, we have tested this via dedicated
connection to the Qube with a crossover cable. I can acess the POP3 and the
FTP from the outside via dial-up with no problems. This has happened twice,
(we are dealing with the second time now) and the last time, we had to
rebuild the system via a Cobalt OS Restore CD, then recreate the user files
by hand. This elimated both the POP3 and the FTP problems. If we attempted
to restore the user files from a known good archive, the slowdown and FTP
problems would return.
As I mentioned earlier, we are attempting to recover from the second
occurrence and would prefer a better solution than a complete scratch
install and configuration.
