Re[2]: [cobalt-users] Weird files created on share by Apple computers

Hello List,

Tuesday, October 17, 2000, 4:14:52 AM, you wrote:

Well I do not worry about all of them but the Icon?. The purpose of
most of them is to handle the ressource fork of the Mac files (Windows
knows only about the data fork..). For example, Mac application icons
are stored in sub-folders within .AppleDesktop in a Netatalk share.
But the Icon? is a 0 byte file that is very annoying. You cannot see
it from a Mac and if you are trying to copy a whole directories/files
tree from the Qube share onto a Windows machine (let's say for
backup), the copy gets interrupted each time it encounters one of
these.. which is in almost every directory..
Well Fabrice gave me a way to suppress them recursively (Thanks :-),
but still, it would be nice to know what are these. Maybe somebody
knows about a list where they discuss these problems (maybe it's a
netatalk conf issue).
